How to Sign In to Chrome

"I've been working on my Chromebook, and saved a bunch of bookmarks. Now when I go to my desktop computer, the bookmarks aren't there. Why not?"

Most likely it's because you're not signed in to the Chrome browser itself. You might be signed in to Google Apps, and Saddleport, and the computer itself, but if you're not signed in to Chrome, you won't see any of your bookmarks or extensions or other settings. Here's how to sign in:

1. From the "three dots" menu in the upper-right of the screen, pull down the Chrome menu.
2. Select "Settings".

3. Click "Sign in to Chrome". Use your "@mysaddleback.org" username and your standard district password.

You should then see your bookmarks and extensions appear. You will remain signed in to Chrome on that computer indefinitely; this is not something you'll have to do every day.

Adding a Different Account

What if you want to switch to a different Google account, like your personal gmail account? There are several ways to have multiple accounts open at the same time. Here is the best way.

(Warning: NEVER do this on a computer that students have access to. You don't want to forget to remove your account and have students be able to see your personal information.)

Next to the close and minimize buttons, in the upper-right of the browser window, you'll see a small tab with your account name in it.
1. Click on that tab.
2. Select "Switch Person".

You can see that I have five different "identities" set up on this computer. I've named them so that I can keep them straight. If you're just starting out, you probably only have one.

3. Click on "Add Person" to create a new identity. You will be asked to name that identity and select an icon. Click "Save" to create the identity. You'll then be asked to log in; use whatever account you would like to log in to Chrome with this identity.
