NEW Features in Google Classroom

New Google Classroom Features Launch in August!

Google Classroom was a game changer for me and my third graders.  Classroom is a simple organizational tool that was implemented seamlessly into the curriculum and culture of our learning space.  It empowered my students to work more independently and collaboratively on a daily basis.

Classroom has also been a valuable tool in Professional Learning for my team as we provide educators with experiences and resources that can in turn be used with their students.

Some big changes are coming that I thought you might want to know about.

What's New...

“As teachers and students added more posts to Classroom, users spent too much time scrolling and looking for work. We know that class time is precious, so that’s why we added a new Classwork page to help teachers and students stay organized. The Classwork page improves planning by allowing teachers to group work into units or modules, and reorder work to match their class sequence.”

New Classwork page

Create and reuse assignments and questions in one location. Organize the assignments and questions by grouping them into modules and units. Teachers can plan their curriculum for the semester by reordering work to match their class sequence.

Improved Stream page
We’ve introduced a new collapsed view of classwork items so teachers and students can see more content on a page. This will help the Stream become the conversational hub of Classroom between students and teachers.

Centralized People page
View all teachers, students, and guardians on the People page. Teachers can view, add, and remove students, co-teachers, and guardians.

Consolidated settings
Control general Classroom settings in one place. Teachers can edit the class description, change the course code, manage guardian summaries, and set the class location. They can also control how students post and comment on the Stream page.

Create locked quizzes in Classroom
Keep your students focused by creating locked quizzes on Chromebooks.
